Greenland

Greenland is a survival thriller about a family trying to stay alive as a comet breaks apart and strikes the Earth. John Garrity, an engineer, learns that he, his estranged wife Allison and their young son Nathan have been selected for evacuation to a shelter in Greenland. Before they can reach it, the family is separated amid the panic of a collapsing society, and John must cross a country in chaos to find them again.

Ric Roman Waugh directed the film from a screenplay by Chris Sparling, with Gerard Butler, Morena Baccarin and Roger Dale Floyd leading the cast as the Garritys. It followed Waugh's Angel Has Fallen and preceded Kandahar and the later Greenland 2: Migration. Butler also produced alongside Basil Iwanyk and Alan Siegel. Made for a modest budget, the film earned more than its cost worldwide, a solid result for a release in the summer of 2020.

On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.4 from about 166,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 7.1 from a much smaller pool of roughly 5,500 votes. The film critics' rating of 6.3 from 159 reviews places it close to the audience scores.
