The Last New Year's Eve

Set in a modern residential complex in the suburbs of Rome, this film follows several interconnected residents during the final hours of the year. The narrative weaves together various storylines, including a wealthy woman who discovers her husband is having an affair with her closest friend and an elderly countess whose party is interrupted by a soccer team. Elsewhere in the building, a lawyer is tied up by a call girl while burglars target his office, a woman attempts suicide, and two young men hide in a bedroom with drugs and dynamite. As midnight approaches, these separate situations converge toward a grotesque tragedy.

Directed by Marco Risi, this project was his first in a sequence of films that includes 5 Star Christmas and The Dew Point. The screenplay was written by Risi and Niccolò Ammaniti. The ensemble cast features Monica Bellucci, Marco Giallini, and Francesca D'Aloja, among a total of 50 credited actors. The production was supported by RAI and Istituto Luce Cinecittà, among other companies.

The film has received moderate feedback from viewers. It holds a rating of 6.1/10 on IMDb based on 1,300 votes and a score of 5.8/10 on TMDB from 63 votes.
