Asher

Asher is a former Mossad agent who now works as a hired killer, living a solitary and frugal existence in a continually changing Brooklyn. His skills are fading and his career is nearing its end. After a job goes wrong, he meets Sophie, and the encounter pushes him to break a promise he made in his youth. Wanting a chance at a different life before it is too late, he finds himself caught between the man he has been and the man he wants to become, while his employer and younger colleagues turn against him.

The film is directed by Michael Caton-Jones, working from a screenplay by Jay Zaretsky, and it arrived in 2018, late in a directing career that began with Scandal in 1989 and includes Memphis Belle, Doc Hollywood, This Boy's Life, Rob Roy, The Jackal, City by the Sea, Basic Instinct 2 and Shooting Dogs. Ron Perlman plays Asher, with Famke Janssen as Sophie, Richard Dreyfuss as Avi, Jacqueline Bisset as Dora, Peter Facinelli as Uziel and Guy Burnet as Lyor. It is an American production from XYZ Films, LINK Entertainment, Wing and a Prayer Pictures and Bullet Pictures, running 117 minutes.
