Short description

A sophisticated artificial intelligence program named Ares is sent from a digital realm into the human world on a dangerous mission. This event marks the first time humanity encounters AI beings in physical form. Julian Dillinger attempts to profit by bringing these programs into reality, though they initially suffer from a limited lifespan. To overcome this restriction, Julian deploys Ares to steal a stability code from Eve Kim, the head of a rival company. Through his interactions with Eve, Ares begins to experience compassion and turns against his creator, leading Julian to send another virtual soldier named Athena to stop him.

The film was directed by Joachim Rønning, following his previous work on Young Woman and the Sea. It stars Jared Leto as Ares, Greta Lee as Eve Kim, and Evan Peters as Julian Dillinger, with supporting roles played by Gillian Anderson, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Jeff Bridges. Produced by Walt Disney Pictures, Sean Bailey Productions, and Paradox, the movie had a budget of 220 million USD but earned 142 million USD at the worldwide box office. Audience reception is mixed, with a rating of 6.2/10 on IMDb from 75,000 votes and 6.5/10 on TMDB from 1,642 votes. This viewer sentiment is slightly higher than the film critics' rating of 5.5/10 from 269 reviews.
