Geetha Govindam

Geetha Govindam is a Telugu romantic comedy about Vijay Govind, a young college lecturer who hopes to get married and falls for a woman named Geetha. She keeps her distance from strangers and is not easily won over. Just as their relationship begins to look promising, Vijay makes a serious mistake that puts both his chances with her and his standing with his family at risk.

The film was directed and written by Parasuram Petla, arriving as his second feature after Srirastu Subhamastu in 2016 and ahead of Sarkaru Vaari Paata in 2022 and The Family Star in 2024. It was produced by Bunny Vas under GA2 Pictures. Vijay Deverakonda plays Govind, with Rashmika Mandanna as Geetha. Vennela Kishore, Subbaraju, Rahul Ramakrishna and Annapoorna appear in supporting roles.

Released in August 2018 and running 148 minutes, the film is set in present-day India and centres on misunderstandings, first impressions and persistence. On IMDb it holds a rating of 7.7 from around 18,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6.9 from a much smaller base of 86 votes, suggesting a modest but clearly favourable response from the wider audience that has seen it.
