The Swan Princess: Escape from Castle Mountain

The Swan Princess: Escape from Castle Mountain continues the story of Princess Odette and Prince Derek, now celebrating their first wedding anniversary at the castle on Swan Lake. Their happiness is disrupted by the sorcerer Clavius, who wants the magical orb hidden within the castle so he can take over the world. He lures Derek into a trap, and Odette must once again become a swan to save him. Their animal companions, including the turtle Speed, the frog Jean-Bob and the puffin Puffin, help in the effort, while the kidnapping of Queen Uberta raises the stakes.

Richard Rich directed this animated sequel, the fourth of the thirteen films he has directed in chronological order. It follows The Swan Princess from 1994 and precedes The Swan Princess: The Mystery of the Enchanted Kingdom in 1998. Brian Nissen wrote the screenplay. Michelle Nicastro and Douglas Sills voice Odette and Derek, with Steve Vinovich as Puffin, Joseph Medrano as Lord Rogers, James Arrington as Chamberlain and Rosie Mann as Bridget.

The film runs seventy-one minutes and was released in June 1997. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.6 from around 4,100 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6 out of 295 votes. A critics' rating of 5.5 from five reviews places it close to the audience scores, suggesting a modest reception across both groups.
