During the Second World War, a British bomber crew is shot down over Germany following a mission and forced to land. Five airmen survive, among them an Australian pilot, an American officer, a Canadian, a Scottish veteran and a young Englishman. Captured by the Germans and questioned by a major, they manage to escape, taking with them secret documents about German war production. Rather than simply fleeing, they make their way toward the Netherlands and then Britain, sabotaging enemy installations they encounter as the major pursues them across Germany.
Raoul Walsh directed the film, the ninth of the twenty-three features listed in his filmography, made between Gentleman Jim and Uncertain Glory. Arthur T. Horman wrote the screenplay, and Hal B. Wallis produced for Warner Bros. Pictures. Errol Flynn plays Flight Lieutenant Terry Forbes and Ronald Reagan plays Flight Officer Johnny Hammond, with Nancy Coleman, Raymond Massey, Alan Hale and Arthur Kennedy among the twenty-one credited cast members.
The film runs 107 minutes and belongs to the action, adventure and war genres. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.9 from around 2,800 votes, while on TMDB its rating stands at 6.1 from a much smaller number of votes. Released on September 26, 1942, it was one of several wartime adventure pictures pairing Flynn with Walsh at Warner Bros.
