The Head Hunter
Short description
Set in a medieval kingdom, this fantasy horror film follows a fierce warrior who protects the land from occult threats and monsters. He spends his time hunting creatures to add to a collection of severed heads, driven by a desire to find and kill the specific beast that murdered his daughter years prior. As he travels through wild landscapes on horseback, his quest for revenge leads him toward a confrontation more terrifying than he anticipated, eventually putting the fate of the entire realm at risk.
The movie was directed by Jordan Downey, marking the first of three films he has directed, followed by V/H/S/Beyond and The Cycle. Downey also co-wrote the screenplay and served as a producer alongside Ricky Fosheim and Kevin Stewart. The cast features Christopher Rygh as the father, Cora Kaufman as the daughter, and Aisha Ricketts providing the voice for The Head.
The production was a collaboration between Brayne Studios and Detention Films in the United States. With a runtime of 72 minutes, the film holds a 5.4 rating on IMDb from 7,700 votes and a 5.4 rating on TMDB from 343 votes. These audience scores are lower than the rating from film critics, who gave the movie a 7.2 based on 17 reviews.
