Short description
Set in New York City in 2095, this science fiction drama depicts a world where humans, mutants, and ancient gods coexist under the shadow of a floating pyramid. The plot centers on the Egyptian god Horus, who faces the loss of his immortality. To survive and ensure his lineage, he has one week to find a specific woman capable of bearing his child. To achieve this goal on Earth, Horus must inhabit a human host, choosing a political prisoner named Nikopol who has been preserved in stasis for thirty years.
The film was directed and produced by Enki Bilal, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Serge Lehman. The cast features Linda Hardy as Jill, Thomas Kretschmann as Nikopol, and Charlotte Rampling as Elma Turner, with Thomas M. Pollard voicing Horus. A joint production between the United Kingdom, Italy, and France, the movie had a budget of 25 million USD. Audience reception was mixed, as reflected in the ratings on IMDb, where it holds a 5.9/10 from 22,000 votes, and on TMDB, where it has a 5.7/10 from 472 votes.
