Sibyl

Sibyl is a psychotherapist who has grown tired of her practice and decides to return to her first passion: writing. She begins to cut back on her patients, but inspiration is slow to arrive. Then Margot, a young actress in emotional turmoil, comes to her for help. Sibyl finds her new patient impossible to resist as material, and is drawn further and further into Margot's chaotic life. The closer she gets, the more her own buried history resurfaces, until the boundary between therapist and subject starts to collapse.

Justine Triet directed and co-wrote the film with Arthur Harari. It followed her earlier features Solférino and In Bed with Victoria, and preceded Anatomy of a Fall. Virginie Efira plays Sibyl, with Adèle Exarchopoulos as Margot. The cast also includes Gaspard Ulliel, Sandra Hüller, Laure Calamy and Niels Schneider. The production was Belgian and French, with a credited cast of 24 and a crew of 98.

Released in 2019 and running 101 minutes, the film blends comedy and drama. On IMDb it holds 6 out of 10 from around 6,400 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 5.7 out of 10 from 533 votes. A critics' rating of 5.9 out of 10 from 54 reviews places it slightly above the audience scores.
