Day of Anger

In the small, desolate town of Clifton, Scott Mary is treated as an outcast because his father is unknown, and he survives by doing the dirtiest cleanup work the townspeople can find for him. His situation changes when Frank Talby, an aging gunfighter, arrives and takes an interest in the young man. Talby trains Scott in the use of firearms and brings him into his circle, and Scott proves unusually gifted with a gun.

Talby gradually extends his control over Clifton through violence and corruption, with Scott's help. As the gunman's true nature becomes clear, Scott must decide how far his loyalty to his mentor can go, and whether he will use what he has learned against the man who taught him. The film is set in the American West and was directed by Tonino Valerii, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Renzo Genta and Ernesto Gastaldi. It was his first feature as director, followed by My Name Is Nobody in 1973. Giuliano Gemma plays Scott Mary and Lee Van Cleef plays Frank Talby, with Walter Rilla, Ennio Balbo, Lukas Ammann and Andrea Bosic among the 24 credited cast members.

Day of Anger was released in December 1967 and runs 113 minutes. It is an Italian-German western produced by Corona Filmproduktion, Sancrosiap and Divina-Film. On IMDb it holds a rating of 7 out of 10 from around 6,400 votes, and on TMDB it has 7.1 out of 10 from about 160 votes.
