Adopt a Highway

After spending more than two decades behind bars, Russell Millings returns to a society he no longer recognizes. A third-strike conviction for possessing a small amount of marijuana kept him imprisoned for over twenty years, and now he works as a dishwasher at a fast food restaurant and lives in a small apartment while learning basic things most people take for granted, such as how to use the internet. One night he finds a baby abandoned in a dumpster behind the restaurant. Unsure what to do and torn between panic and compassion, he begins caring for the infant, seeing in the situation a possible chance to rebuild his life.

Ethan Hawke plays Russell, heading a cast that also includes Elaine Hendrix, Diane Gaeta, Betty Gabriel, Mo McRae and Chris Sullivan. Logan Marshall-Green directed the film and wrote the screenplay, marking his first time in the director's chair, and Hawke produced alongside Jason Blum and Adam Hendricks for Blumhouse Productions, Divide / Conquer and Under the Influence Productions. The drama runs 81 minutes.
