Babylon is a British drama set in Brixton in 1980, following Blue, a young man of Jamaican heritage. He spends his days with his friends and leads a dub sound system, but his life is unsettled by losing his job, tension within his family, and the racism that tests his friendships and his place in the city.
The film was directed by Franco Rosso, who wrote the screenplay with Martin Stellman, and produced by Gavrik Losey. Brinsley Forde plays Blue, with Trevor Laird, Karl Howman, Brian Bovell, Victor Romero Evans and David N. Haynes among a credited cast of 35. It was released in November 1980 and runs 95 minutes. On TMDB it holds a rating of 7 out of 10 from 51 votes, a modest sample reflecting a film that has found a smaller audience over time.
