Short description
An alumni of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service who is settled in Europe gets a call from his father who was considered dead and he sets on a mission to find him with the help of his first love.
What's left behind the scenes
- The film was shot from April to June 2018, consisting of 47 filming days. Additionally, several scenes had to be reshot a year later due to the lead actors' schedules.
- The film was shot in Riga, Jurmala, Sigulda, Crimea, and the Kaliningrad region.
- The film crew managed to feature numerous unique locations: the elder Rodin's house was played by the luxurious Benyaminov dacha in Jūrmala; Masha's house was the designer country residence "Lieldienu Sala" ("Easter Island") near Riga—a converted Soviet pumping station at a fish factory; the main antagonist's lair was located in the Balaklava underground museum complex. The production also utilized the bridge over the Gauja River in Sigulda, a military memorial cemetery in Medvedevka near Kaliningrad, and an early 20th-century hydroelectric power station in Pravdinsk.
- The most labor-intensive process was the coordination and preparation for filming on the Gauja River bridge in Sigulda: the film crew had to obtain permits from every possible agency, including environmentalists, as filming coincided with the fish spawning season; subsequently, it was necessary to notify local residents via radio and TV announcements, temporarily replace road signs, and insure the cable car that runs beneath the bridge.
