The County

Following the death of her husband, a farmer named Inga takes over their dairy operation in the Icelandic countryside. She discovers that a powerful local cooperative maintains an abusive monopoly over the region's farmers, using corrupt methods to keep them in debt. Inga decides to challenge this system to establish independence for her community. She utilizes social media and the support of a few allies to fight the organization's control, facing significant resistance from both the cooperative and her own neighbors.

This comedy-drama was written and directed by Grímur Hákonarson. It follows his previous work on Oiko Logos, Summerland, and Rams. The film stars Arndís Hrönn Egilsdóttir in the lead role, alongside Sigurður Sigurjónsson, Sveinn Ólafur Gunnarsson, Ævar Þór Benediktsson, Þorsteinn Gunnar Bjarnason, and Daniel Hans Erlendsson. It is a co-production between Germany, Denmark, Iceland, and France.
