Samurai Wolf is a Japanese action drama directed by Hideo Gosha and released by Toei Company in November 1966. It follows Kiba, a wandering swordsman who arrives at a remote village built around a post station that handles the transport of goods. There he becomes involved in a scheme surrounding a large sum of money and chooses to protect Chise, the young blind woman who runs the station. The opposing side responds by sending a mercenary named Sanai Akizuki, a swordsman without scruples, and the confrontation between the two men turns into a personal matter bound up with the blind woman herself. Kei Tasaka wrote the screenplay, and Nobusaburo Honda produced the film, which runs seventy-five minutes.
Isao Natsuyagi plays the lead as Ookaminosuke, with Ryōhei Uchida as Sanai, Junko Miyazono as Lady Chise, Tatsuo Endō as Nizaemon, Toyoko Takechi and Yoshirō Aoki among the credited cast of thirty-two. The film came second in the chronological order of Gosha's directing work, following Three Outlaw Samurai, and a further film, Samurai Wolf II, followed in 1967.
On IMDb the film holds a rating of 7.1 from around a thousand votes, while on TMDB it stands at 7 from a much smaller number of votes.
