The Specials

Two friends, Bruno and Malik, run separate nonprofit organizations dedicated to supporting children and adolescents with autism. For twenty years, they have worked together to train young people from underprivileged neighborhoods to provide care for the most complex cases, specifically those who have been rejected by other institutions. While managing their demanding daily operations, they must also fight to keep their facilities open against government efforts to cut funding and positions.

The film was directed by Éric Toledano and Olivier Nakache, who also wrote the screenplay. This project is the fifth in their shared directorial chronology, following C'est la vie! and preceding A Difficult Year. The movie stars Vincent Cassel as Bruno Haroche and Reda Kateb as Malik, with supporting roles played by Hélène Vincent, Bryan Mialoundama, Alban Ivanov, and Benjamin Lesieur.
