See You Yesterday

See You Yesterday follows CJ Walker and her best friend Sebastian, two Brooklyn teenagers whose scientific talents have produced a pair of backpacks capable of sending the wearer through time. Their experiments are still unfinished when CJ's older brother Calvin is shot and killed by police. Determined to undo his death, the two students put the untested technology to use, travelling into the past again and again in an attempt to change what happened. Each trip carries its own risks, and the consequences of interfering with events prove difficult to control.

The film was directed by Stefon Bristol, who wrote the screenplay with Fredrica Bailey, and produced by Spike Lee. It is Bristol's first feature, arriving before his second, Breathe, in 2024. Eden Duncan-Smith plays CJ, with Dante Crichlow as Sebastian, Astro as Calvin, Marsha Stephanie Blake as Phaedra Walker, Johnathan Nieves as Eduardo and Michael J. Fox as Mr. Lockhart, among a credited cast of 35.

Released in May 2019 and running 86 minutes, the film blends science fiction with crime and family drama. Critics rated it 7.3 out of 10 from 43 reviews, while audiences were less enthusiastic: on IMDb it holds 5.3 from around 12,000 votes, and on TMDB 5.5 from roughly 580 votes.
