Short description
Elle Evans has spent a romantic summer with her boyfriend Noah, but now he is heading off to Harvard while she faces her final year of high school. The two try to make a long-distance relationship work, even as Elle weighs where she wants to go to college and how her friendship with her best friend Lee is shifting. A new classmate, Marco, takes an interest in her, leaving Elle unsure about her feelings and about what her future should look like.
The film is the second entry in a trilogy directed by Vince Marcello, following The Kissing Booth in 2018 and preceding The Kissing Booth 3 in 2021. Marcello wrote the screenplay with Jay Arnold and also produced, with Michele Weisler and Andrew Cole-Bulgin. Joey King returns as Elle, Jacob Elordi as Noah, Joel Courtney as Lee and Molly Ringwald as Mrs. Flynn, while Taylor Zakhar Perez and Maisie Richardson-Sellers join the cast.
Released in July 2020, the sequel runs 132 minutes and was produced in the United Kingdom and the United States. Audience responses differ sharply: on TMDB it holds a 7.6 rating from a few thousand votes, while on IMDb it sits at 5.7 from roughly 43,000 votes, a lower and more heavily voted result.
What's left behind the scenes
- To get in shape for the film "The Kissing Booth", actor Jacob Elordi trained twice a day, seven days a week. During the filming of the second part, he abandoned intense physical exertion. In an interview with Men's Health, Elordi admitted that he wants to be an actor first and foremost, not an athlete, and that he was tired of constant questions about his body.
