Moxie

Moxie follows Vivian Carter, a shy sixteen-year-old at a high school where sexist behavior from students and staff has become routine. Encouraged by her mother's history of activism and by a new friend who refuses to stay quiet, Vivian starts an anonymous zine that calls out the sexism around her. The publication spreads and stirs a response across the school, pushing Vivian out of her reserve.

Amy Poehler directed the film, her second feature after Wine Country (2019) and before Lucy and Desi (2022). The screenplay is by Dylan Meyer and Tamara Chestna, and Poehler produced with Morgan Sackett and David Hyman through Paper Kite Productions. Hadley Robinson plays Vivian, with Lauren Tsai, Alycia Pascual-Peña, Nico Hiraga, Sabrina Haskett and Patrick Schwarzenegger among the credited cast.

Released in March 2021, the film runs 110 minutes and blends comedy and drama with music. On IMDb it holds a 6.7 rating from roughly 31,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 7.2 from a much smaller base of 876 votes. A critics' score of 6.4 from 115 reviews places it slightly below the audience averages.
