Law of Tehran

Law of Tehran follows Samad, a narcotics officer who has spent years pursuing Nasser Khakzad, one of the country's most elusive drug barons. Working alongside his colleague Hamid, Samad conducts raids and searches across Tehran, including its overcrowded prisons, and his blunt, often questionable methods eventually lead him to the man he has been chasing. Yet the arrest does not bring the resolution he expected, and his confrontation with the head of the network takes an unforeseen direction. The film is set in Iran, where drug possession carries the same penalty whether the amount is small or large, a circumstance that shapes both the traffickers' behavior and the police work.

Saeed Roustaee directed and wrote the film, his second feature after Life and a Day and the one preceding Leila's Brothers and Woman and Child. Payman Maadi plays Samad, with Navid Mohammadzadeh as Naser, and Parinaz Izadyar, Farhad Aslani, Houman Kiai and Maziar Seyedi in supporting roles. Produced by Jamal Sadatian, Mohammad Sadegh Ranjkeshan and Arastoosohrabinya, it was released in 2019 and runs 134 minutes.

The film has an IMDb rating of 7.7 from around 21,000 votes, and a TMDB rating of 7.2 from 279 votes. Its worldwide box office stands at about 1 million dollars.
