Backdraft 2

Sean McCaffrey, the son of the late Chicago firefighter Steve "Bull" McCaffrey, has followed his father into the fire service, working as an investigator in the same firehouse where his uncle Brian once served. When he and his partner Maggie are assigned to look into a fatal fire, they come to suspect it was no accident. The clues they uncover point toward a larger scheme involving arson, murder and international terrorism, and Sean turns for help to Ronald Bartel, a notorious imprisoned arsonist, in an effort to identify whoever is behind the blaze.

Backdraft 2 is a follow-up to the 1991 film and was released in 2019. It was directed by Gonzalo López-Gallego, the fifth of the seven features listed for him, arriving between The Hollow Point and American Star. Gregory Widen wrote the screenplay, Raffaella De Laurentiis produced, and the cast includes Joe Anderson as Sean, Alisha Bailey as Maggie, William Baldwin as Brian McCaffrey and Donald Sutherland as Ronald Bartel. It runs 102 minutes and was produced across Belgium and the United States by Imagine Entertainment, uMedia, Universal 1440 Entertainment and Title Media.

On IMDb the film holds a rating of 4.9 from around 2,700 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.4 from roughly 200 votes. The two audiences differ noticeably: the much larger IMDb sample rates it lower than the smaller TMDB group, suggesting reactions to this sequel have been mixed.
