Eva is a young Spanish lawyer building a life in Edinburgh, where she is engaged to the heir of a prominent and deeply traditional Scottish family. Her plans are thrown into disarray when her grandmother Sofía announces that she intends to marry her longtime friend Celia. Fearing how her conservative future in-laws will react, Eva sets out to stop the wedding before it can derail her own.
The comedy is directed and written by Ángeles Reiné, marking her first feature film as director. It is a Spanish-Portuguese co-production starring Rosa María Sardà as Celia and Verónica Forqué as Sofía, with Ingrid García Jonsson as Eva, David Verdaguer as Jorge, Candela Peña as Perla and Mónica López as Natasha among a credited cast of 25. The film runs 97 minutes.
Released in September 2020, the film drew limited enthusiasm from viewers. On IMDb it holds a rating of 4.5 out of 10 from around 1,500 votes, and on TMDB it sits at 5.3 out of 10 from 98 votes. Both figures point to a modest reception rather than a broad success for this light-hearted take on family, generational difference and the clash between personal happiness and social expectations.
