French Exit

Frances Price, a Manhattan socialite in her sixties, has run through the fortune her late husband left behind. What remains is a borrowed apartment in Paris, where she intends to see out her remaining years out of the public eye, joined by her son Malcolm, who drifts without any clear purpose, and the family cat, Small Frank. The cat is widely taken to be the reincarnation of her dead husband, a belief that shapes the strange household the three of them form abroad.

Azazel Jacobs directed the film from a screenplay by Patrick DeWitt, adapting his own novel, and the production was handled by Noah Segal, Christine Haebler and Christina Piovesan. It is Jacobs's third feature, arriving between The Lovers (2017) and His Three Daughters (2024). Michelle Pfeiffer plays Frances, with Lucas Hedges as Malcolm, Tracy Letts as the voice of Franklin, and Valerie Mahaffey, Susan Coyne and Imogen Poots among the supporting cast. The film runs 113 minutes and was made across Ireland, Canada and the United States.
