Alienoid

Alienoid follows two stories that unfold centuries apart and eventually collide. In the late Goryeo dynasty, a group of Tao magicians competes for a legendary sacred sword, while in 2022 a guard and his shape-shifting robot partner track alien criminals imprisoned inside human bodies. These inmates have been held on Earth for a long time, and escapees are pursued without mercy. When a time-traveling portal opens, the two eras intersect, drawing the historical figures and the modern pursuers into the same conflict.

The film is directed by Choi Dong-hoon, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Lee Ki-cheol. It sits between Assassination and its sequel, Alienoid: Return to the Future, in his filmography, his fifth feature as director. Ryu Jun-yeol plays Muruk, Kim Woo-bin appears as Guard and Thunder, and Kim Tae-ri plays Ean, with So Ji-sub, Yum Jung-ah and Jo Woo-jin among the supporting cast. The production involved a large credited cast and crew.

Released in July 2022, the film cost about 25 million USD and earned around 12 million USD worldwide. On IMDb it holds a 6.3 rating from roughly 7,500 votes, while on TMDB it has a 6.9 from about 600 votes. A critics' rating of 6.7 from 30 reviews places it close to both audience scores.
