The Legend of Maula Jatt

The Legend of Maula Jatt centres on Maula Jatt, a fighter whose violent past haunts him, and his feud with Noori Natt, the most feared warrior in the Punjab. What begins as a personal grievance grows into a wider confrontation. The film draws on the 1979 Pakistani classic Maula Jatt, revisiting its characters for a new production. Bilal Lashari directs and shares screenplay credit with Nasir Adeeb, and also produces alongside Faisal Rafi and Ali Murtaza.

Fawad Khan plays the title role, with Hamza Ali Abbasi as Noori Natt. Mahira Khan, Humaima Malick, Gohar Rasheed and Shafqat Cheema appear in supporting parts. Lashari had previously directed Waar, released in 2013, making this his second feature as director. The film runs 153 minutes and blends action and drama with fantasy elements.

It reached cinemas on 13 October 2022 and took about 14 million US dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 8.4 out of 10 from roughly 12,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 7.9 from a much smaller number of votes. The wide gap in vote counts means the two scores reflect very different sample sizes.
