Innocence

A successful lawyer returns to her hometown to defend her mother, who is accused of murder. The charges stem from a fatal poisoning of rice wine served during the funeral of the mother's husband. Because the mother suffers from memory loss and dementia, she is unable to represent herself or recall the events. With the assistance of the local mayor, the daughter works to uncover village secrets and prove that her mother was wrongly accused.

Directed and written by Park Sang-hyeon, this crime thriller is a joint production between the United States and Korea involving Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures International Productions. The film stars Shin Hae-sun as Jeong-in and Bae Jong-ok as Hwa-ja, supported by Heo Joon-ho and Hong Kyung.
