Petrov's Flu

Petrov's Flu follows a family in post-Soviet Russia as a flu epidemic sweeps through their city. Petrov, a comic-book artist, his wife and their young son are all laid low by illness, and the fever unsettles the ordinary shape of their days. Petrov is drawn into a long, drink-soaked wander through the city with his friend Igor, drifting between what is real and what his mind throws up, while the past keeps pressing into the present around him. The story is based on Alexei Salnikov's novel.

Kirill Serebrennikov directed and wrote the screenplay, following Leto from 2018 in his filmography. Semyon Serzin plays Petrov, with Chulpan Khamatova as his wife, Vladislav Semiletkov as their son and Yuri Kolokolnikov as Igor. The production involved companies in Russia, Germany, France and Switzerland, and runs 145 minutes, mixing comedy and drama with science-fiction touches.

On IMDb the film holds a critics' rating of 7.1 from 37 reviews. On TMDB its audience rating is 6.4 from 101 votes, a lower figure than the critics' score.
