A Lizard in a Woman's Skin

Carol Hammond, the daughter of a politician and the wife of a London lawyer, is troubled by recurring nightmares. In them she acts out violent and sexual fantasies involving a free-spirited neighbour whose loud parties she resents, and she confesses these dreams to a psychiatrist. When that neighbour is found murdered, Carol becomes the central suspect in the investigation, and she is left uncertain whether her dreams crossed into reality.

Lucio Fulci directed this Italian-Spanish-French production from a screenplay he wrote with André Tranché and Roberto Gianviti; Edmondo Amati produced it. It was Fulci's fifth film as director in chronological order, following One on Top of the Other and preceding Don't Torture a Duckling. Florinda Bolkan plays Carol, with Stanley Baker as Inspector Corvin, Jean Sorel as Frank Hammond and Silvia Monti, Alberto de Mendoza and Penny Brown in supporting roles. Twenty-six cast members and forty-four crew members are credited.

The film runs 104 minutes. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.8 from around 6,500 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6.5 from roughly 190 votes. A smaller sample of critics rated it 7.5, slightly above the audience scores on both sites.
