Short description

Set in southern Italy around the year 1400, this horror drama focuses on a convent in Puglia. The peace of the sacred site is shattered when it is invaded by the Tarantula cult, a group of fanatical individuals who commit violent and obscene acts during their desecration of the monastery.

Directed and produced by Gianfranco Mingozzi, this film is the first in a chronological list of two directorial works, followed by The Sparrow's Fluttering in 1988. The screenplay was a collaborative effort between Mingozzi and writers Bruno Di Geronimo and Fabrizio Onofri. The movie is a joint production between Italy and France, featuring a cast that includes Florinda Bolkan, María Casares, Claudio Cassinelli, Anthony Higgins, Spiros Focás, and Diego Michelotti.

The film has received a moderate reception from viewers. On IMDb, it holds a rating of 5.7/10 based on 1,400 votes, while on TMDB, it has a slightly higher score of 5.9/10 from 73 votes.
