Benny Loves You

Jack is a man in his early thirties who never quite managed to grow up. After his parents die, he is forced to sell the family home, and while clearing it out he gets rid of his childhood belongings, including Benny, the plush toy his mother gave him so he would not be afraid of the dark. Benny comes to life with a single purpose: to protect Jack and their friendship at any cost, and anyone Benny decides has wronged Jack becomes a target. Jack eventually resolves to stop the toy himself.

Benny Loves You is a British and American comedy horror feature written, directed and produced by Karl Holt, who also voices Benny and plays Jack. Claire Catwright, George Collie, James Parsons, Darren Benedict and Anthony Styles appear in supporting roles. It was Holt's first feature as director, followed chronologically by The Pandemic Anthology.

The film runs 94 minutes and was released in November 2019. On IMDb it holds 5.6 out of 10 from around 3,700 votes, and on TMDB 5.8 out of 10 from roughly 236 votes. Critics were more favourable, giving it 7.1 out of 10 across 29 reviews, so the response from reviewers was noticeably warmer than the audience scores suggest.
