Short description
An American speaker at a conference in Cairo is abducted and held in an Iranian prison on espionage charges. His wife, who works for the US State Department, travels to Iran determined to secure his release.
Infidel is a 2019 American action thriller written, produced and directed by Cyrus Nowrasteh. It is the fourth feature he directed, following The Day Reagan Was Shot (2001), The Stoning of Soraya M. (2009) and The Young Messiah (2016). Jim Caviezel plays Doug Rawlins, with Claudia Karvan as his wife Liz. The cast also includes Hal Ozsan, Aly Kassem, Stelio Savante and Bijan Daneshmand. The film runs 107 minutes and was produced by Cloudburst Entertainment and D'Souza Media.
Reception has been mixed. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.4 out of 10 from 277 votes, and on TMDB 5.6 out of 10 from 90 votes. A critics' rating of 5.7 out of 10 from 12 reviews places it close to the audience scores, suggesting broad agreement rather than a sharp divide between reviewers and viewers.

- Dan's story is inspired by the real-life case of American journalist Terry Anderson, who was kidnapped and held hostage by Hezbollah militants from 1985 to 1991 during the Lebanese Civil War. At the time of his release, Anderson was the journalist who had spent the longest time in captivity. Daga was kidnapped for religious reasons, while the motives for Anderson's kidnapping were different – he was captured in retaliation for US actions supporting Israel during the 1982 Israeli invasion of Lebanon.
