Short description
A story of a simple, naive Russian man Konek and the people around him: his love and her sister and a mysterious man. The film is set in 1957, time of changes, time of waiting for something big to happen.
What's left behind the scenes
- The film's budget was $2 million, and filming lasted for six months.
- Elena Lyadova gained 12 kg to look more like Irina Pegova, who played her sister. This was so successful that people began to mistake the two actresses for one another.
- When asked how Evgeny Tsyganov got along with Evgeny Mironov, Tsyganov answered "not at all," while the director compared the talented actors to lone wolves.
- This is the first collaboration between Uchitel and Mindadze. Uchitel had worked with Dunya Smirnova, and Mindadze with Vadim Abdrashitov.
- In the documentary footage, an African American man with flowers runs up to Gagarin's motorcade. He had to be 'recolored' into a European to ensure the shot aligned with the screenwriting and directorial vision.
