Life in a Day is a documentary that functions as a time capsule of July 24, 2010. The project invited thousands of people from across the globe to upload videos of their daily lives to YouTube. This global experiment resulted in tens of thousands of clips from nearly 200 countries, capturing diverse human experiences ranging from personal milestones to large-scale public events. The final film compiles these user-generated submissions into a portrait of a single day on Earth.
Directed by Kevin Macdonald, this was the fifth of 13 films he directed, following The Eagle and preceding How I Live Now. The production was a collaboration involving YouTube Originals, Scott Free Productions, and LG. The cast features various contributors appearing as themselves, including Cindy Baer, Moica, Caryn Waechter, and Drake Shannon.
The film received generally positive responses from viewers and critics. It holds a rating of 7.6/10 on IMDb based on 16,000 votes and a 7.2/10 on TMDB from 257 votes. Film critics gave the movie a rating of 7.1/10 across 76 reviews, which is slightly lower than the audience scores on IMDb and TMDB.
