A New York police officer named Jake travels to Thailand to infiltrate a criminal operation that produces martial arts films where the actors are actually killed during filming. While working to expose these productions, Jake seeks revenge against Khan, a lethal kickboxer responsible for the death of his brother a decade earlier. To survive the encounter and defeat his opponent, Jake must refine his fighting skills under the guidance of a trainer named Prang.
Directed by Lo Yuen-Ming, this 1990 action-crime hybrid is the first of two films the director released that year, followed by No Retreat, No Surrender 3: Blood Brothers. The movie features Loren Avedon as Jake Donahue, Billy Blanks as Khan, and Keith Cooke as Prang, with supporting roles played by Richard Jaeckel and Don Stroud. The production was a joint effort between companies from Hong Kong, the United States, and Thailand.
Audience reception is mixed but generally positive. On IMDb, the film holds a rating of 5.9/10 based on 2,300 votes, while it has a higher score of 6.9/10 on TMDB from 136 votes.
