The White Masai

A Swiss woman named Carola is vacationing in Kenya with her boyfriend when she becomes infatuated with Lemalian, a warrior from a local tribe. Choosing to leave her partner behind, she navigates bureaucratic hurdles to marry Lemalian and settle in his village in the savanna. The story follows her struggle to adapt to a life without modern utilities and the challenges of conforming to traditional expectations regarding the role of a wife. While the tribe welcomes her, growing tensions and her husband's jealousy turn her romantic ideal into a difficult ordeal.

Directed by Hermine Huntgeburth, this drama was her third feature film, following Und alles wegen Mama and Bibi Blocksberg. The movie stars Nina Hoss as Carola, Jacky Ido as Lemalian, and Janek Rieke as Stefan, with supporting roles played by Katja Flint and Helen Namaso Lenamarken.
