Nadia, Butterfly

Nadia, Butterfly follows a young swimmer named Nadia who, at twenty-three, chooses to step away from professional sport after competing at the Olympic Games. She has spent years in a disciplined world built on sacrifice, and her decision to leave it behind is not an easy one. Once her final race is over, she moves through nights of excess and moments of doubt, searching for a sense of who she is when the pool and the training no longer define her.

The film is a Canadian drama directed and written by Pascal Plante, and it was his first feature, arriving before Red Rooms in 2023. It stars Olympic swimmer Katerine Savard as Nadia, alongside Ariane Mainville, Pierre-Yves Cardinal, Marie-José Turcotte, John Ralston and Kaoru Matsui. Dominique Dussault produced it for Némésis Films, and the credited cast runs to 52 names.
