Woman in Chains

Josée is the wife of an artist named Gilbert. While her husband works with Stanislas, a gallery director, Josée becomes attracted to the man. Stanislas maintains a private collection of disturbing and perverse photographs, focusing on the submission and humiliation of women. As Josée becomes involved with him, she is drawn into his provocative games and becomes a model for his fantasies.

Directed by Henri-Georges Clouzot, this film follows his previous work, The Truth. The screenplay was written by Clouzot along with Monique Lange and Marcel Moussy. The production was a collaboration between the French company Les Films Corona and the Italian company Fono Roma. The main cast features Laurent Terzieff as Stanislas Hassler, Elisabeth Wiener as Josée, and Bernard Fresson as Gilbert Moreau, supported by a credited cast of 27 actors.
