Party of Fools

Set in Paris in 1894, this historical thriller follows a woman named Fanni who enters a psychiatric hospital for women under the pretense of doing so voluntarily. Her goal is to locate her mother among the patients. While inside, Fanni forms unexpected bonds with other women and discovers a community that challenges her preconceptions. As the institution prepares for a lavish event known as the Party of Fools, which attracts various artists and political figures, Fanni views the celebration as her final opportunity to escape her situation.

The film was directed by Arnaud des Pallières, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Christelle Berthevas. This project follows his previous films, Age of Uprising: The Legend of Michael Kohlhaas and Orphan. The cast is led by Mélanie Thierry in the role of Fanni, appearing alongside Carole Bouquet, Marina Foïs, Josiane Balasko, Lucie Zhang, and Yolande Moreau.
