The Summit of the Gods
Short description
A Japanese photojournalist becomes obsessed with discovering whether George Mallory and Andrew Irvine were the first people to reach the top of Mount Everest in 1924. After finding a camera in Kathmandu that may have belonged to Mallory, Fukamachi begins searching for a missing climber named Habu Jôji. This quest leads the reporter into a community of driven mountaineers as he attempts to uncover the truth behind the disappearance of the early explorers.
This animated adventure and mystery was directed by Patrick Imbert, who previously directed The Big Bad Fox and Other Tales. The film was produced in France and Luxembourg by companies including Wild Bunch and Melusine Productions. The voice cast features Éric Herson-Macarel as Old Habu, Damien Boisseau as Fukamachi, and Elisabeth Ventura as Ryoko.

- Before animating the climbing scenes, director Patrick Imbert consulted with alpinists who had already conquered Everest.
