Five Dates

Five Dates follows Vinny, a millennial living in London during the coronavirus lockdown, as he tries a dating app for the first time. Matched with five women of very different personalities, he has to work up the nerve to meet them over video calls. The viewer decides how each conversation goes and whether the women want to see him again, steering Vinny through branching chats, awkward moments and unexpected revelations. The film examines how unpredictable digital dating can be, and asks the viewer to weigh their own ideas about attraction and compatibility while guiding an ordinary single man through it.

The interactive romantic comedy was released in November 2020, running 90 minutes. It was directed and written by Paul Raschid and produced by John Giwa-Amu through Good Gate Media, and was made in the United Kingdom. The cast is led by Taheen Modak as Vinny, with Mandip Gill as Shaina, Georgia Hirst as Grace, Marisa Abela as Maya, Sinead Harnett as Paige and Georgia Small as Saffron. Built around video calls between Vinny and five matches, the format places the decisions in the audience's hands rather than the character's, so each viewing follows a different path.
