Books of Blood

Books of Blood is an anthology horror film built around three stories that unfold in different places and eras but remain connected across space and time. A psychologist who has lost her young son is drawn into unsettling territory when her partner claims he can communicate with the dead boy. Elsewhere, a young woman who cannot tolerate certain everyday sounds takes money from her family and sets out for Los Angeles. A third thread follows a professional killer whose last assignment leads him toward a book of immense value, and toward threats that are not entirely human. The film draws on Clive Barker's horror anthology series of the same name.

Brannon Braga directed and co-wrote the screenplay with Adam Simon. It followed his earlier feature work behind the camera, marking another step in a career long associated with genre television. Anna Friel plays Mary, Britt Robertson plays Jenna, and Yul Vazquez plays Bennett, with Rafi Gavron, Freda Foh Shen and Nicholas Campbell among a credited cast of 25. The production companies were Fuzzy Door Productions and Touchstone Television.

Released in October 2020, the film runs 107 minutes. Its ratings place it in middling territory: on IMDb it holds 5.6 out of 10 from around 12,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.3 from roughly 538 votes, suggesting a somewhat warmer response from that audience. A critics' rating of 4.8 out of 10 from 30 reviews is lower than either audience figure.
