Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings is a horror thriller set in the remote mountains of West Virginia. A group of college friends on a snowmobiling holiday lose their way when a winter storm closes in, and they take shelter in an abandoned sanatorium that once housed psychiatric patients. The building has a disturbing history, and three former inmates, brothers with a taste for violence and flesh, still occupy the place. Stranded and isolated by the weather, the friends find that the refuge they chose is far more dangerous than the storm outside.
The film is a prequel to the 2003 horror film Wrong Turn, showing the origins of the three cannibal brothers from that earlier entry. Declan O'Brien directed and wrote the screenplay, following his work on Wrong Turn 3: Left for Dead in 2009; he would go on to direct Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines in 2012 and Joy Ride 3 in 2014. The cast includes Jennifer Pudavick, Tenika Davis, Terra Vnesa, Kristen Harris, Kaitlyn Leeb and Dean Armstrong. Kim Todd produced, with a budget of 3 million US dollars and a credited crew of 58.
On IMDb the film holds a rating of 4.5 out of 10 from more than 31,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 5.8 out of 10 from over 1,200 votes. A critics' rating of 5.3 out of 10 from six reviews places it close to the audience scores on both platforms, suggesting a similar overall reception rather than a sharp divide between reviewers and viewers.
