Five Corners

Five Corners is set in a working-class neighborhood of the Bronx in the 1960s, where a young man named Heinz Sabatino returns after a prison term for attempted rape. He comes back looking for Linda Komkowski, the woman he attacked, and for Harry Fitzgerald, the man who stopped him. Linda turns to Harry for protection, but Harry has since come to believe in the good in people and does not want to see the danger Heinz represents. Around them, a group of local teenagers goes about its daily life as the times change for the neighborhood and the country.

Tony Bill directed the film, the second in a run that began with My Bodyguard in 1980 and continued with Crazy People, Untamed Heart, A Home of Our Own and Flyboys. John Patrick Shanley wrote the screenplay, and Bill produced with Forrest Murray. Jodie Foster plays Linda, Tim Robbins plays Harry, John Turturro plays Heinz, and Todd Graff, Elizabeth Berridge and Cathryn de Prume are among the credited cast of 41.

The film was released in September 1987 and runs 94 minutes. It was made for about 6 million dollars by HandMade Films and Cineplex-Odeon Films, a British and American production. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.1 from around 4,200 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 5.9 from a much smaller number of votes. A critics' rating of 6.3 from 9 reviews places it close to the audience scores.
