Motocrossed

Motocrossed is a Disney Channel original movie about a family consumed by the sport of motocross. Father Edward Carson quit his job to train his teenage son Andrew for a professional career, while Andrew's twin sister Andrea is an equally talented rider whose father considers the sport no place for a girl. When Andrew breaks his leg shortly before a major tournament, Edward travels to Europe to find a replacement rider, and Andrea, with her mother's help, secretly takes her brother's place on the track.

The film is a contemporary take on Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, built around disguise and mistaken identity. Steve Boyum directed it, the third film in his directing career after Johnny Tsunami and Mom's Got a Date with a Vampire. Ann Austen and Douglas Sloan wrote the screenplay, and George W. Perkins produced. Alana Austin plays Andrea, with Riley Smith, Timothy Carhart, Trever O'Brien, Scott Terra and Mark Curry in supporting roles.

Released in 2001 and running 91 minutes, the film is rated 6.5 out of 10 on IMDb from around 6,000 votes, while on TMDB it holds 6.2 from 96 votes. The much larger IMDb sample points to a modest but durable following among viewers who grew up with the Disney Channel's original movies of that period.
