Khuda Haafiz

Sameer and Nargis Chaudhary lose their jobs in the 2008 recession and spend months struggling to get by. Their luck appears to turn when both find work in Noman, a country in the Middle East. A delay in the paperwork means Sameer stays behind in India while Nargis travels ahead. Shortly after she arrives, she is abducted, and Sameer hears her pleading for help over the phone. He flies to Noman and joins forces with a local taxi driver, Usman Ali Murad, in a race to track her down.

Khuda Haafiz is a 2020 Indian action thriller directed by Faruk Kabir, who wrote the screenplay with Zaheer Abass Qureshi. It stars Vidyut Jammwal as Sameer and Shivaleeka Oberoi as Nargis, with Annu Kapoor, Aahana Kumra, Vipin Sharma and Nawab Shah in supporting roles. The film is set largely in a fictional Gulf state and deals with the vulnerability of migrant workers far from home. Released on 14 August 2020, during a period when cinemas in India were closed, it premiered on the Disney+ Hotstar streaming platform instead of in theatres, running 134 minutes.

On IMDb, the film holds a rating of 7.1 from roughly 23,000 votes, indicating a generally favourable response from a substantial number of viewers. On TMDB, its score is 7 out of 10 from about 54 votes. The much larger vote count on IMDb suggests its audience was considerably broader there, while the TMDB figure reflects a small sample. Produced by Panorama Studios under Abhishek Pathak and Kumar Mangat Pathak, it became popular enough to continue with a sequel.
