Futurama: Bender's Big Score
Short description
Set in the year 3007, this animated science fiction comedy follows the crew of Planet Express as they restart their delivery business after a two-year shutdown. Their comeback is derailed by a group of naked alien scammers who cheat the company away from Professor Farnsworth, seize Bender through a computer virus, and learn that the secret of time travel is tattooed on Fry's backside. Using Bender to raid history's greatest treasures, the invaders end up threatening the entire Earth, and the resulting mess entangles Fry, Leela and the rest of the crew in events that reach back to the early 2000s. The film continues the Futurama series and puts extra weight on the relationship between Fry and Leela.
Dwayne Carey-Hill directed, working from a screenplay by Ken Keeler. It was Carey-Hill's first feature, followed by Futurama: Bender's Game, and the voice cast includes Billy West, Katey Sagal, John DiMaggio, Phil LaMarr, Tress MacNeille and Lauren Tom, several of them handling multiple roles.
Released in November 2007, the film runs 89 minutes. On IMDb it holds a 7.6 rating from roughly 36,000 votes, while on TMDB it has a 7.4 from about 790 votes. A critics' score of 7.4 from 11 reviews places it close to those audience figures, suggesting a broadly consistent reception.
