Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One

Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One is an animated crime mystery set in Gotham City, where a killer strikes only on holidays, leaving a distinctive weapon and a small token of the occasion at each scene. As the body count rises, Batman works alongside police officer James Gordon and district attorney Harvey Dent to identify the murderer, nicknamed Holiday, while the city remains in the grip of the Falcone crime family and widespread corruption.

Directed by Chris Palmer, the film is the second of four titles he directed, following Superman: Man of Tomorrow and preceding Batman: The Long Halloween, Part Two and Batman: The Long Halloween Deluxe Edition. Tim Sheridan wrote the screenplay, with Jim Krieg and Kimberly S. Moreau producing for Warner Bros. Animation, DC Entertainment and DC Comics. The voice cast includes Jensen Ackles as Batman and Bruce Wayne, Josh Duhamel as Harvey Dent, Naya Rivera as Catwoman and Selina Kyle, Billy Burke as Commissioner Gordon, Jack Quaid as Alberto and Titus Welliver as Carmine Falcone.

Released in June 2021 and running 85 minutes, the film holds a 7.3 rating on IMDb from around 23,000 votes and a 7.4 on TMDB from a much smaller base of roughly 725 votes. A critics' rating of 7.8 from 21 reviews places it above both audience scores, indicating stronger approval among reviewers than among the wider viewing public.
