No One Gets Out Alive

Ambar, a Mexican woman who has spent years caring for her dying mother, arrives in Cleveland with little money, hoping to build a new life. Without documents, she takes a low-paid job in a textile factory and rents a cheap room in a run-down boarding house owned by the secretive Red. She is saving every cent to buy the papers she needs for better work, but the house unsettles her: noises at night keep her awake, and she comes to suspect that the sounds are not coming from the other tenant, and that Red is hiding something. Strange dreams and visions begin to trouble her as well.

The film is a horror, mystery and thriller directed by Santiago Menghini, his first feature, made from a screenplay by Jon Croker and Fernanda Coppel and produced by Jonathan Cavendish and Will Tennant for The Imaginarium. Cristina Rodlo plays Ambar, with Marc Menchaca as Red, and David Figlioli, Claudia Coulter, David Barrera and Moronkę Akinola in supporting roles. It was released in September 2021 and runs 85 minutes.

Audience response has been mixed: on IMDb it holds 5.4 out of 10 from around 24,000 votes, and on TMDB 5.8 out of 10 from a much smaller number of votes. A critics' rating of 5.6 out of 10 from 22 reviews places it close to both audience scores, indicating a broadly similar, moderate reception across viewers and reviewers.
