Sing a Bit of Harmony

Satomi Amano is a high school student who keeps to herself, until an artificial intelligence named Shion Ashimori arrives in her class posing as a transfer student. Shion's mission is to make Satomi happy, and she pursues it with unusual methods: singing in front of the whole class, wearing princess gowns, and pulling Satomi into one strange situation after another. Shion is a prototype AI, and keeping her true identity hidden soon proves difficult, especially when her attempts to help draw Satomi closer to four classmates and their shared efforts begin to create memories worth preserving.

The film is directed by Yasuhiro Yoshiura, who wrote the screenplay with Ichirou Ookouchi. It is Yoshiura's third directed feature, following Time of EVE: The Movie in 2010 and Patema Inverted in 2013. The voice cast includes Tao Tsuchiya as Shion, Haruka Fukuhara as Satomi, Asuka Kudo, Kazuyuki Okitsu, Mikako Komatsu and Satoshi Hino. Produced by Shochiku, J.C.STAFF and Funimation Films, it runs 109 minutes and was released in October 2021.

On IMDb the film holds a rating of 7 out of 10 from around 1,300 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 7.4 out of 10 from a much smaller number of votes. A critics' rating of 7.8 out of 10 from ten reviews places it somewhat above the audience scores. The film blends animation, drama and science fiction in a story about an AI trying to understand human happiness.
